Company Overview
WAGO was founded on the original patent for spring-cage connection technology. It was 1950. The brothers Heinrich Nagel and Friedrich Hohorst heard about the original patent for screwless leaf spring connection technology with push-buttons while playing cards in Berlin and took the initiative to acquire all rights, including the raw materials such as housings, springs, guide strips and rivets for assembling the first products. With this, the foundation stone of the family business was laid: WAGO Klemmenwerk GmbH was founded in Minden on April 27, 1951. Initial concepts came one after another, with highs and lows, but the two men always had the conviction that screwless connection technology would succeed. The first decade was characterized by innovations, products and patents, as well as initial successes at home and abroad.
